1/3/2020 · The purpose of a gadolinium-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan is to give your doctor an indication of the age of your MS lesions, like whether an MS relapse is happening now or whether one occurred awhile ago. If a lesion on the MRI lights up, it means that active inflammation has occurred usually within the last two to three months.
Contrast-enhanced MR imaging is a sensitive method for detecting active MS lesions. Gadolinium (Gd) enhancement is a marker for bloodbrain barrier breakdown and histologically correlates with the inflammatory phase of lesion development.
Conclusion: Defining either active T2 or Gd-enhancing lesions as MRI endpoint seems to be not crucial for monitoring MRI activity in MS clinical trials. The choice of the best MRI endpoint should be based on different considerations (e.g.
sensitivity, reproducibility, time for assessment, safety, and patients’ comfort).

1/13/2016 · Pathological features that encompass the evolution of acute versus subacute Gd-enhancing MS lesions have been recently investigated by high-resolution dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI . Longitudinal enhancement dynamics of initially nodular lesions revealed a centrifu gal pattern while older ring-like lesions enhanced centripetally with delayed lesion filling.
5/22/2020 · Out of 100 6, 398 patients had at least one Gd-enhancing lesion, based on the ground truth segmentation. During DL model development, the data were divided into 3 sets: 60% (604 scans) for training, 20% (201) for validation, and 20% (201) for testing, with random stratified sampling. Network weights were initialized using the Xavier algorithm 23.
Objective: Because of the need for a standardized and accurate method for detecting multiple sclerosis (MS) inflammatory activity, different magnetic resonance (MR) acquisitions should be compared in order to choose the most sensitive sequence for clinical routine. To compare the sensitivity of a T1-weighted image to a single dose of gadolinium (Gd) administration both with and without magnetization transfer to detect contrast enhancement in active demyelinating focal lesions.

9/11/1999 · MR analysis was performed to provide measurements of the number and volume of gadolinium (Gd)-enhancing lesions as well as the hypointense lesion volume on a T1-weighted sequence. In addition, serial measurements of T2 brain lesion volume, brain volume, and spinal cord cross-sectional area were made over the duration of the study.
4/1/2001 · Two hundred eighty (93%) of 301 enhancing lesions disappeared within 6 months, and seven (2%) lesions showed persistent enhancement longer than 6 months . The other 14 (5%) lesions, which disappeared by the time of the next scan, were excluded, because the course between two examinations was longer than 6 months.
